12 Easy, Yummy, & Healthy Snacks for Weight Loss & Wellness
Smoothie ingredient combinations are literally endless, which is great because then you can always switch it up & have a unique smoothie experience whenever you want.
That being said, it’s nice to have a “go-to” smoothie recipe that’s super easy to whip up & made with ingredients that you almost always have in the house.
Here’s one of my basic go-to smoothie recipes, that’s loaded with healthy fats, protein, & antioxidants — the perfect snack OR meal replacement!:
- ~¼ cup organic full-fat coconut milk
- ~½ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- Handful of frozen berries (my fave is strawberry!)
- Large handful of organic spinach
- ½ of a ripe avocado
- 1 scoop of a high-quality protein powder (I eat & recommend MaxLiving Grass-Fed Whey Protein and Bone Broth Protein).
Simply blend the above ingredients together in a blender (a high-powered blender like a Vitamix will give you the creamiest, dreamiest smoothie!), and voila — you’re ready to rock & roll!
2. Flax Crackers + Guacamole
Flax crackers are an amazing way to get your crunchy snack fix — they’re a healthy & delish alternative for chips & crackers.
Flax crackers are great on their own, or with your favorite healthy dip! I love pairing them with fresh guacamole — YUM!
As far as guac goes, you can either buy some from the store (just make sure it doesn’t have any added sugar or unhealthy oils!), or you can easily make your own. Simply mash up some ripe avocados, & mix it with your fave guac ingredients (like chopped onion, diced tomato, minced or fresh-pressed garlic, cilantro, fresh-squeezed lime juice, salt, & pepper).
This snack is a fantastic source of healthy fats & omega 3’s!
3. Raw Veggies + Hummus
This is a raw snack full of nutrients, and very easy to prepare.
Hummus can be store-bought OR you can make it yourself. (If you buy it somewhere, make sure it doesn’t have unhealthy oils — it can be hard to find a healthy one! I love the Lilly’s brand!).
To make your own hummus, put a can of organic garbanzo beans, some extra virgin olive oil, raw tahini (sesame seed butter), lemon juice, garlic, salt, & pepper into a blender, and blend until smooth. So easy!
Pair hummus with your favorite raw veggies — like bell peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, carrots, cauliflower, etc.
4. Chocolate Chia Pudding
Have a sweet tooth?? This is one of the easiest, healthiest desserts that can double as a decadent “snack”. Plus, it’s full of healthy fats, fiber, & antioxidants!
5. White Velvet Parfait
Doesn’t that just sound delightful?! Well, it is! This parfait is made with Beyond Organic Amasai (which we affectionately call “White Velvet” because it’s sooo smooth, creamy, & dreamy!).
Amasai has a similar taste & texture to Kefir (like a drinkable yogurt), but it’s the healthiest dairy I’ve ever found. Not only is it organic, 100% grass-fed & grass-finished, & cultured to contain billions of gut-healing probiotics, but unlike 99% of the dairy sold in stores (even organic dairy), it’s also free from A1 beta-casein — the main protein in dairy that is 13x more inflammatory than gluten! Yikes!
Long story short: Beyond Organic dairy (including Amasai) is the only dairy in the world that I feel 100% confident & healthy eating.
To make the Parfait: Pour some plain Amasai into a bowl & sweeten with liquid vanilla stevia. Add some fresh berries, raw cashews, & Lily’s chocolate chips (a healthified brand of chocolate that’s sweetened with stevia & erythritol). YUMMY!!
Or, you can always enjoy plain Amasai sweetened with liquid vanilla stevia straight out of the bottle — simple, but so delish!
6. Veggie Chips
When it comes to snacks, my husband & I are total Chip Monsters! One of the healthiest ways to satisfy your crunchy chip craving is to make (or buy) veggie chips. I personally love that I can pretty much eat as many of these as I want & not feel bad about it. 🤗
You can make kale chips, zucchini chips, apple chips (okay, that’s technically a fruit, but same concept), or whatever kind of veggie chips your little heart desires!
To Make: Just thinly slice your vegetables of choice & dehydrate them in a dehydrator on very low heat (or put in the oven on the lowest heat setting) for several hours, until crispy. Making your own veggie chips is wayyyy more affordable than buying them.
But, if you’d rather go for convenience & buy them: Check the ingredients to make sure there aren’t any added sugars or bad oils (like canola oil). Here are some awesome, Dr. Christi-approved options you can buy online:
Are you getting hungry yet?? (I know I’m drooling just thinkin’ about some of these delish snacks!) We still have 6 more healthy snacks to go, but I wanted to remind you to download your free Superfood Snacks Shopping Guide below so you’re 100% prepared to take your snacking game to the next level! 🙃
7. Sprouted Cashews & Almonds
Raw nuts are a great source of healthy fat & protein, BUT they also have a substance called “phytate” — which is an anti-nutrient & can’t be broken down by our digestive system. These phytates rob our bodies of precious nutrients like calcium, magnesium, zinc, & iron — not good!
Fortunately, raw nuts can be SPROUTED, which keeps all the amazing nutrients & health benefits of raw nuts, but eliminates the destructive phytates — it’s a win-win!
To Sprout Nuts: Simply soak raw nuts in water for several hours, and then dehydrate them (below 150 degrees) for 12-24 hours until completely dry & crunchy. A dehydrator definitely works best for this, but you could also dry the nuts in the oven on the lowest heat setting & leave the door slightly cracked to keep the temperature down.
8. 3-Second Raspberry Pie Bites
I created this whimsical little snack one time when I was having a hodge-podge lunch at home (“hodge-podge” = totally random, not really a cohesive “meal”, but still amazingly delicious & healthy 🙂).
As I was eating it, it reminded me a little bit of a raspberry pie flavor, so I came up with a cute name for it to enjoy the moment even more. 🤓
It only takes 3 seconds: Dip a raw (or sprouted) cashew into some organic virgin coconut oil, & stick it into a fresh ripe raspberry. Then eat & repeat (several times!). That’s it! Simple, but delish!
9. Raw Zoodle Salad
This snack is completely raw & filled with nutrients. It can actually double as a meal if you make enough of it.
YUM!! So fresh & so clean. 😜
You can get a spiralizer here — they’re super affordable & something you’ll use frequently to healthify pasta night!
10. Mini Pizza!
This is one of my newest favorite snacks for weight loss & wellness! It only takes like 5 minutes to make, it’s full of fiber, & it’s STILL hard for me to believe how something this tasty & this easy can be so healthy!
11. Granny Smith Apple + Raw Almond Butter
This classic raw snack is great for on-the-go, and can even be satisfying as a super simple & healthy dessert.
Granny Smith apples are my favorite not only because I love the tartness, but even more importantly, they have less of an impact on your blood sugar than other types of apples (lower on the glycemic index & less natural sugar).
This bar is A.MA.ZING! Here’s why:
- It tastes DELICIOUS! Chocolate Berry Crunch flavor — mmm!!
- It only has 4 grams of sugar & is very low glycemic index.
- It’s dairy-free, grain-free, & sweetened with organic yacon syrup.
- It’s one of the highest certified bars in the US market: USDA Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Paleo, Vegan, & Kosher Certified.
- It’s completely portable & the ultimate on-the-go snack — one of the healthiest snacks you can literally take ANYWHERE with you!
It’s not a bad idea to keep one of these babies in your purse at all times… They can really save the day if you get a little hangry & are tempted to go through a drive-through for a quick bite! ☺️
My hope is that these 12 snacks for weight loss & wellness will help to stay strong on your health journey. They may even spark some ideas & inspire you to create some more healthy snacks on your own!
